As people are becoming increasingly aware of what they are putting into their own bodies and the importance of nutrition for humans, it’s also time to start thinking about what we are feeding our pets. We’re Ron and Rachel Whidby and we own this business with our daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Josh Hurley. We opened this business as a family because we want to help people understand what is – and what isn’t – in pet food so they can make the best decision for their family.

Pet Wants’ specially-crafted pet food formulas are made in small batches with the freshest natural ingredients enhanced with vitamins and minerals for a complete and balanced diet in every bowl. Pet Wants North Raleigh has multiple blends of dog and cat food formulas as well as homemade treats, healing salve, calming balm, anti-itch spray, paw wax and more.

We are all long-time Raleigh residents and Michelle and Joshua were born and raised in the Raleigh area. As a family, we have three rescue dogs – a coonhound named Summer, a lab/hound mix named Bell and a miniature dachshund named Bandit. As experienced business owners we knew, if we were going to open another business, it had to be the perfect fit for this community and for our family. Rachel was interested in working with pets, but we looked for more than a year before we found Pet Wants.

Pet Wants is different because our food is natural, high-quality, limited ingredient, slow cooked, fresh, convenient and our treats are nutritious. Pet Wants has a 100-percent, money-back guarantee on the freshness and quality of our food and we only source the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice, and other ingredients available. There’s no sugar added, no fillers, and no animal by-products and Pet Wants never uses corn, wheat, soy, or dyes, which makes the food great for animals with allergies.

The world of pet food can be complicated so, for us, the most exciting part about this business is having the opportunity to talk to people in our community about animal nutrition and educate them about what’s in the food they can buy, especially in comparison to our products. We look forward to meeting you and helping you find the best products for your furry family members!
